Patna HC takes strict measures against liquor smuggling from vehicles of other states in Bihar

Patna: The Patna High Court has addressed the issue of liquor smuggling from vehicles registered outside Bihar with severity.

In response to registered cases of such smuggling, the court has directed the Chief Secretary of the state to take stringent action. Additionally, the court has urged the Chief Secretary to organize special training for excise officers, police officers, and district magistrates, with a focus on sending them to other states. This initiative aims to equip officials with the necessary skills to combat liquor smuggling, preventing potential economic losses in the state.

These instructions were issued during the hearing of an anticipatory bail petition filed by Sitaram Sah, also known as Sitaram Saha. The single bench of Justice Purnendu Singh, while granting bail to the petitioner, emphasized the importance of addressing liquor smuggling to safeguard the state’s economy.
It remains essential for authorities to implement and enforce stringent measures against the illegal transportation of liquor from other states, as mandated by the directives from the Patna High Court.
