Passenger feedback to drive improvements in Tatanagar Railway Station

Jamshedpur, April 12: In a bid to enhance passenger experiences, Tatanagar station will undergo significant improvements based on suggestions directly provided by travelers. Railway officials will embark on a seven-day endeavor, interacting with passengers both on trains and at stations to gather feedback on existing amenities and areas for enhancement. This initiative stems from the South Eastern Railway Zone’s commitment to upgrading passenger facilities.

A dedicated team comprising catering inspectors, health inspectors, and deputy superintendents of commerce has been formed to spearhead this effort. Their mandate includes compiling comprehensive reports based on passenger feedback garnered from both AC and sleeper coaches, categorizing the data by train numbers, and submitting their findings to the Chakradharpur divisional headquarters.

Key areas of focus include amenities such as waiting halls, water facilities, fans, and cleaning systems at stations, with a keen eye on provisions for lifts, escalators, and automatic facilities. Additionally, the quality of ticket vending machines, water dispensers, water coolers, and food offerings at restaurants and stalls will be meticulously monitored.

During onboard surveys, railway officials will assess coach cleanliness, water availability in toilets, and the condition of seats. Moreover, officials have been entrusted with the task of conducting continuous station checks, in collaboration with Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), to deter the presence of illegal hawkers and outside porters.

This initiative follows an increase in passenger complaints, citing issues such as train delays, hot water from railway taps on platforms, and overpricing of food items. To address these concerns and streamline passenger services, the Area Manager of Tatanagar recently convened a meeting with department supervisors. Subsequently, directives for the survey have been issued by the South East Zone and Chakradharpur Division, signaling a concerted effort to address passenger grievances and enhance overall rail travel experiences.
