Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has announced plans to install new boards displaying parking rates and designated zones across the city. This initiative, led by Special Officer JNAC Krishna Kumar, aims to streamline the city’s parking system and address the confusion caused by damaged or missing signage.
“There are 12 parking lots in Sakchi and Bistupur alone. Earlier, boards indicating parking zones and rates were installed, but many of them are now torn or missing. We will replace them to improve traffic management and ease issues for drivers,” said Krishna Kumar.
The absence of clear parking and no-parking boards has created difficulties for drivers, often leading to disputes and haphazard parking in key areas. The revamped signage will prominently display rate charts and demarcate parking and no-parking zones to reduce ambiguity and improve traffic flow.
Adding to the confusion, shopkeepers in several areas, including Sakchi and Bistupur, have independently put up unauthorized “no parking” boards in front of their establishments. “Shopkeepers are not authorized to install these boards unless they can prove that parking directly affects their business. Unauthorized boards will be confiscated,” clarified Krishna Kumar.
This measure is part of JNAC’s broader strategy to enhance the urban infrastructure of Jamshedpur. With new boards set to be installed soon, both locals and visitors can expect a more organized parking system. The initiative also includes strict monitoring to prevent misuse and ensure compliance with the city’s parking guidelines.
The Special Officer emphasized, “This effort reflects our commitment to making Jamshedpur’s traffic system more efficient and user-friendly.”
