Parking charges for two-wheelers increased from Rs 5 to 10 in Jamshedpur

Five new parking slots identified

Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has increased parking fare from Rs 5 to 10 for two-wheelers. Moreover the civic body has included five new parking slots while renewing the parking tender in the city. The parking lots have been introduced include the P&N Hi-Tech City Centre Mall and HDFC Bank’s Ram Mandir branch lane in Bistupur and Kadma market.

The parking charge for two-wheelers has been increased from Rs 5 for two hours to Rs 10 although no changes have been made in the parking charge for the four-wheelers which is Rs 20.

Special officer, JNAC, Krishna Kumar informed that new area in the parking slots across Bistupur, Kadma and Sakchi have been identified.

“We want to ensure that the vehicles parked in public places remain safe so we identified some new area in our fold,” said the JNAC special officer.

Another official said that despite series of campaign it seems the citizens of the city are simply not bothered with the no parking signs put up all along the main roads. Vehicles, be it a four-wheeler or a two-wheeler, queued up in a cluttered is a common sight in the city. However with the towing of vehicles they are hopeful to teach the people civic sense.  Unauthorised parking has become a major concern for traffic police and repeated special drives have been launched to provide free movement.

As part of tough measures to regulate traffic, Jamshedpur Police have also received wheel lockers to clamp wheels of vehicles at no parking zones.   As per the plans, only after paying the fine with the traffic police, the vehicles be it two, three or four wheelers can be moved away from the spot. Any attempts to move the vehicle by the owner/driver with the lock may damage the tyres.
