Jamshedpur, Nov 13: A shocking case of police misconduct has come to light in Burmamines, where a police clerk allegedly assaulted a parking attendant after a heated altercation on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at the parking area near the Tatanagar–Burmamines stretch and has been captured on CCTV footage.

According to eyewitnesses, Burmamines police station’s clerk, Rajeev Kumar, arrived in his private car and began honking repeatedly upon entering the parking lot.

In the process, his car reportedly hit a parked motorcycle, sparking a dispute.

Eyewitnesses further alleged that Rajeev even tried to drive his car over the man standing near the bike.

When parking attendant Pawan intervened and tried to reason with the clerk, Rajeev Kumar allegedly became aggressive, hurled abuses, and started beating him.

He then reportedly called a police patrol unit, which arrived on the spot and forcibly took Pawan to the Burmamines police station.

Once at the station, Pawan was allegedly beaten further by police personnel.

As news of the incident spread, other parking staff and local residents rushed to the police station, demanding his immediate release.

Faced with mounting public outrage, Burmamines police eventually released Pawan.

Speaking to the media afterward, Pawan claimed that Rajeev Kumar was heavily intoxicated and had vandalized parts of the parking area before the altercation.

Following the incident, both railway authorities and senior police officials have taken cognizance of the matter and are reportedly initiating an internal inquiry into the alleged abuse of power.
