Parents of Maoist leader Maharaj Pramanik to meet rebel son

Jamshedpur: Jarosadhu Pramanik and Neelmani Devi, parents of the hardcore Naxalite leader Maharaj Pramanik, will soon be meeting their rebel son to persuade him for surrender before the police. The two met the SP of Seraikela-Kharsawan Chandan Kumar Sinha at Seraikela police station on Tuesday. The kin of victims of various incidents of Maoist-sponsored violence were also present on the occasion.

The SP asked the couple to meet their son and persuade him to lay down arms before police. He said many families were devastated by the Naxalites who had killed numerous innocent people in the last several years. He said the parents of the Naxalite leader should understand the grim situation being faced by the victims of Naxalite violence all over the state. He said in case Maharaj Pramanik fails to surrender, he will be either arrested or killed by the police.

Neelmani Devi, who was a Sevika in an anganbari, said she was sacked because of her sonís unlawful activities. She said her son had studied till BSC first year. She said her son had quit his studies a decade ago and had never met his parents till date. She assured to meet her son and make him see reason in surrendering before the police.
