The deceased child, Aarush, was a resident of the Star Talkies area under the Burmamines police station limits. According to family members, the incident occurred on Saturday when Aarush had accompanied his mother to Khalsa School to pick up his elder brother. While his mother was waiting for the elder child to come out after school hours, Aarush was playing inside the school premises.
During this time, a speeding car allegedly entered the area and struck the child. The impact left him critically injured, causing panic among people present at the scene. Local residents and school staff immediately rushed the injured child to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) for treatment. Despite the efforts of doctors, Aarush succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

On Sunday, after the post-mortem examination was conducted and the body was handed over to the family, the grieving parents and relatives brought the body outside Khalsa School and staged a sit-in protest. Holding the child’s body, the family demanded justice and raised slogans against the alleged negligence of authorities.
The family members said they would continue their protest until the accused driver was arrested. They also demanded that both the police and the school management held discussions with them and take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
According to reports, the car involved in the accident was allegedly being driven by Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Tuiladungri in Golmuri. Jaspreet was driving his father Paramjit Singh’s vehicle at the time of the incident.
