School sports day gives call for �Jai Jawan , Jai Kisan�

Jamshedpur: The junior section of Loyola School organised the 72nd annual sports day amidst great camaraderie. Colonel Neeraj Kumar, the Commanding Officer of 324th Field Regiment, the Army Unit stationed at Jamshedpur was the chief guest. Also present on the occasion were the rector of the school Fr. Joseph Kalathoor, principal Fr. Pius Fernandes, vice principal Fr. Michael Fernandes, vice principal junior section Vineeta F. Ekka , parents and alumni members. The theme for the sports day this year was Jai Jawan , Jai Kisan . The programme was dedicated to the defence forces and the agricultural community.

The Loyola grounds with a fresh , new face lift was formally inaugurated. The school thanked the Alumni members for their contribution.
The opening ceremony had students in army fatigues doing a drill display to the song � Kadam se kadam milte hai and a dance performance by students dressed up as farmer to the song O mitwa. This year Julo � the mascot for the junior section figured prominently . Julo is a very special big cat and represents the four houses of the Loyola School � the Cheetahs, the Jaguars, the Leopards and the Panthers. Julo embodies the values of the Loyoleans on the field. The Sports flag was unfurled by the chief guest, the sports flame was lit, the balloons in the four house colours were released the sports oath taken by the captains and the Sports Meet was declared open.
The students of Std KG and 1 put up a fantastic drill display representing the Indian Air Force, motto � Touch the sky with glory. The students of the Std 2 and 3 enthralled all the spectators with their drill display decicated to the Indian Navy . Dressed in spotless white naval officers, they raised the Indian flag at the end.
A total of 28 events which included flat races, hurdle races, relay races etc were held. The runners up trophy for the Best House was bagged by the Cheetah House while the Panther House was declared the Overall Champion .The management , teachers , guests, and parents appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students. The Sports Day came to an end by the lowering of the flag by the three games teachers which was handed over to the vice principal Vineeta F. Ekka and rendition of the school anthem .
