Jamshedpur, April 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that Panchayti Raj Day used to be held at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi attended by a handful of panchayat representatives. This practice was followed every year, but things have changed now.
When we came to the power, we endeavored that India is a big country and we should come out of confusion that India is restricted to Delhi.
Moreover, we want that the villagers themselves should decide their developmental issues, as this is the only way to pave the countrys development, Modi said addressing the large crowd that had assembled at the JRD Sports Complex on the occasion of the concluding function of Gramoday se Bharat Uday.
The Prime Minister asked the village chiefs to complete most of the program at their own level. Modi also spoke on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan, soil health card, Indra dhanush Yojana, water, and electricity issues.
He appealed to the village women chiefs to work with same dedication as they devote to their families.
The Union Budget for the 2016-17 fiscal focuses on development of villages and we will have to ensure that village should be development if India has to move forward and develop.
