Seraikela: A one day workshop for Mukhiyas was organized at panchayat level in Seraikela on Saturday. It was inaugurated by the deputy commissioner (DC) of Seraikela-Kharsawan K Srinivasan at the community building.
Addressing the gathering of Mukhiyas, the DC said the purpose of the workshop was to train the Mukhiyas on the functions assigned to their offices and inform them about the procedure to carry out development work. He said the Mukhiyas should hold general meetings and pass development proposals as per the procedure prescribed for them by the government.
The DC discussed various issues including midday meal, schemes to provide bicycles and scholarship to students, construction of new school buildings, upgradation of primary schools and middle schools into high schools and other development plans for schools and panchayats.
The Mukhiyas were informed that they should send any plan or proposal through the Zila Parishad after getting the same passed in the general meetings. The DC said that all villages will be provided with facility of electricity, water, health and education.
