Jamshedpur: A group of 600 women from Kolhan left for Ranchi to participate in the Karigar Panchayat programme going to be held at Harivansh Tana Bhagat Stadium in Khelgaon, Ranchi, on 1st July.
The event is being held under the aegis of Jharkhand State Khadi and Gramodyog Board. More than 5000 people are expected to attend the programme from all over Jharkhand. Khadi Board member Kulwant Singh Bunty and advisor Yogesh Malhotra were present to see off the delegates from Kolhan. They said the event is being held for the first time in Jharkhand. They said the state government was making sincere efforts to make the women of the state financially independent.
The Karigar Panchayat will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Raghubar Das. The participants would be trained in making soaps, shampoo, incense sticks, gums, leaf plates and other handicraft items. They would also be trained in beekeeping. The concluding day programme will be attended by Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu.
