Outfit demands Fees Regulation Act in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur: A delegation of members of Jharkhand People�s Forum met the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum, Amit Kumar, on Monday and handed over a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister and the Human Resources Development Minister of Jharkhand to demand action against private schools for violating Right to Education Act.

The outfit members alleged that certain private schools were exploiting parents and charing exorbitant amounts in fees under various heads. They demanded a tripartite audit of private schools to ensure transparency in their functioning.

In the memorandum, the outfit members demanded measures to pass Fees Regulation Act in the state. They said the state government showed no interest so far in passing such a law. They said 11 states had passed such laws so far in the country.

Among those present in the delegation included Pankaj Srivastava, Uttam Chakravarty, Dilip Jaisawal, Manoj Kumar, Harvinder Singh, Motilal, Ajay Burman and Jay Krishna Jha.
