Orissa artists present Gotipua dance at SPICMACAY show

Jamshedpur, Nov. 19: The SPICMACAY club of Jamshedpur Public School (JPS) along with the Jamshedpur chapter of SPICMACAY invited artists from Orissa who presented a vibrant art-forms i.e the Gotipua dance from Orissa.

The unique feature of this dance form is that all the artists are boys below the age of 12. Their lively and well synchronised dance mesmerised the students for an hour. The students not only enjoyed the dance but also appreciated the fact that the artists were also students like them.

The performing artists were Deepak Khuntya, Sooraj Jena, Ashok Swain, Surya Kanta, Shubham Samantray, Litu samantray, Chandra Swain along with Jatakrusna Nayak , Ramani Jena, & Babuli Bhuyan on the instruments.

These dancers study in a gurukul at Konark. The moderator of the club, Ms Bharti Banerjee coordinated the visit of the artists.
