Oratory skills on stage, Jamshedpur schools host Frank Anthony debate

Jamshedpur, July 11 : Students of schools affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) showcased their oratory skills on different topics at the Frank Anthony Memorial All India Inter School Debate hosted by three schools in the city. The category I stage I topic for classes XI and XII was ‘Effective democracy can only be possible with effective citizenship’. The topic for category II stage I was ‘Education fosters democracy’.

Three schools- Motilal Nehru Public School in Sakchi; Gulmohur High School in Telco and St. John’s High School in Jugsalai hosted the debate that was participated by Jamshedpur and outstation students. While Motilal Nehru Public School and Gulmohur High School organised the category II event, St. John’s High School organised the category II event for classes IX and X.

In category II students debated with reference to the current political system. In category II, 20 participants from 10 schools participated while 20 schools participated in category I. The participants were of the opinion that if everyone is offered an equal chance, then there is a duty to embrace the actions of democracy, opening up equal opportunity for others as well as delivering the best government possible to preserve our right, our purpose.

At Motilal Nehru Public School Little Flower School student G.S. Vishnu who spoke against the motion was declared the best speaker. The first runner up speaker was Debarati Mitra while Little Flower School was declared the best school team.�The contest was adjudged by Basudharna Roy Chatterjee, Rajeev Talwar and Anjani K Sahay.
