Online Seminar on Water Crisis and Management at Karim City College

Jamshedpur, March 24 : An online seminar addressing the pressing issue of ‘Water Crisis and Management’ marked the observance of ‘World Water Week’ on March 24, 2024, at Karim City College (KCC). Renowned speakers and educators spoke and participated in discussions in the course of the seminar organized jointly by the Department of Geography, National Service Scheme, and Kolhan University.

Dr. A K M Anwaruzzaman, Professor at the Geography Department of Aliya University, Park Circus Campus, Kolkata, was the guest speaker. Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, Principal of Karim City College, extended a warm welcome to all participants and commended the success of the webinar.

The significance of the topic was discussed by Dr. Dara Singh Gupta, Coordinator of the National Service Scheme at Kolhan University, emphasizing the critical need for understanding water crisis and its management. Dr. Anwaruzzaman shed light on the causes and consequences of water scarcity, stressing the importance of water conservation practices such as recycling wastewater, rainwater harvesting, and sustainable agricultural methods.

A question-and-answer session was moderated by Professor Dr. Pasarul Islam of the Geography Department and it addressed students’ queries. Dr. Aale Ali, Head of the Geography Department, explained about water-related diseases and preventive measures.

Dr. Farzana Anjum, Assistant Teacher of the Geography Department, offered the vote of thanks. With over 60 students and NSS volunteers participating in the webinar, it served as a platform for insightful discussions and awareness-building on water crisis management. Dr. Ale Ali, Head of the Geography Department, conducted the proceedings.
