Jadugoda, June 30: Sidho-Kanhu Hul Divas was observed in Jadugoda and surrounding villages by people from all walks of life. Chand-Bhairav Hul Ganvta was observed simultaneously in Potka at Damudih Chowk where Zila Parishad member Sanjiv Sardar, block president Sudhir Soren, Mukhiya Biltu Hansda and many others garlanded the statues of Sidho-Kanhu and offered prayers as tribute to the martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjiv Sardar stated, �The revolt of the Santhals against the British rule heralded the first war of independence. The youth should follow the lead of these revolutionaries and martyrs and bring about a revolution for rights of the people here.�

Sidho-Kanhu Hul Ganvta Khukdadih also took out a procession led by former Jamshedpur block president Paltan Murmu from Hitku Chowk to Khukdadih on the occasion of Sidho-Kanhu Hul Divas. The procession included a large number of men and women. They garlanded the statue of Sidho-Kanhu and conducted prayers as a tribute to the martyrs. Paltan Murmu demanded that the story of the lives, revolutionary zeal and martyrdom of Sidho-Kanhu should be included in educational syllabus of the state so that the new generation got to know about the valor of the Santhal revolutionaries. Murmu observed, �With growing torture and harassment on Adivasis it is time now to blow the bugle for yet another uprising in Jharkhand.�
Among the hundreds of people at the Hul Utsav celebration were Laxman Chandra Baskey, Sona Ram Soren, Kartick Machhua and Rakesh Chakraborty.
