One lakh registered for pension benefits: Tripathy

Ranchi: State labour minister KN Tripathy on Wednesday said the state labour employment and training department had registered one lakh people including aged persons, widows and physically challenged persons in the month of May.

One lakh more people will be registered in the month of June, he said. He said the registration took place in the various blocks on the day of Adhikar Diwas (rights day) organized at block level.

The purpose of the programme was to take the benefits of government schemes to the poor and helpless people.

He said the government was providing old age, widow and physically challenged category pension benefits to only five lakh people for the last 25 years.
