Jamshedpur, Dec. 14: An auto-rickshaw driver sustained severe injuries in a road mishap near Tata Steel’s Power House gate in Jugsalai on Monday afternoon.
While a 25-year-old youth died of fatal injury on Tata-Hata Road and Tata-Kandra Road, an eight-year-old boy to sustain multiple injuries in his waist.
A 30-year-old man driving a car hit an auto-rickshaw driver on Jugsalai-Bistupur Road before hitting a scooter rider near the Tata Steel’s Power House Gate this afternoon during busy traffic. Soon after the accident, a large crowd gathered around the car, but the car driver, who was reportedly drunk, somehow managed to open the vehicle’s door and fled the scene leaving his vehicle abandoned.
The left leg and left hand of the auto-rickshaw driver, who was later identified as Rahul Kumar were fractured, but the scooter rider escaped unhurt. A police party arrived at the scene had rushed the injured to MGM Medical College and Hospital for treatment, while as another team of police confiscated the car.
Officer-in-charge, Jugsalai police station, Ashok Giri said that they have the registration number of the car which has caused the mishap.
Earlier in the morning, an eight-year-old boy Sonaram Besra was crossing the Tata-Kandra Road when a biker hit him near Gamharia market, causing the boy to fall off the road. The bike rider who was coming from the Kandra end, however, managed to speed away toward Adityapur, leaving the boy in pool of blood.
Later, the local residents rushed the boy to the medical college hospital. The boy who has also sustained head injury is still unconscious. Officer-in-charge, Gamharia police station, Adikant Mahto confirmed about the mishap.
In yet another mishap, a 25-year-old was fatally injured as the bike he was riding was hit head-on by an SUV near Tetla turning on Tata-Hata Road under Potka police station area.
The victim, later identified as Abhijit Majumdar was rushed by a police party to the Khasmahal-based Sadar Hospital, where the doctor on emergency duty declared him to be brought dead.
Officer-in-charge, Potka police station, Arvind Prasad Yadav said that the bike rider was a resident of Birsanagar in Jamshedpur and was going toward Hata as the SUV which was coming from the opposite direction had hit the victim directly.
In the morning today the police recovered the body and sent it to the medical college mortuary for post-mortem.
