Jamshedpur, Dec 17: One worker, Suresh Banra was killed and another seriously injured while working in the night shift. The mishap occurred in Hindustan Copper Ltd�s (HCL) Surda mines at the second phase of contractor Shriram EPC�s site. Surda mines is located in Mosabani under Ghatshila Block.
The accident occurred when a bucket fell on two workers. One of them, Suresh Banra was killed while the other received serious injuries under the hip. He is being treated at HCL�s Maubhandar Hospital.
The deceased left behind his wife and a one and half month old child. He was the only earning member of the family. The onus is now on the deceased�s wife to earn for a living.
The HCL and Shriram EPC officials at the latter�s guest house and after prolonged deliberations it was decided that Suresh Banra�s family would be provided a compensation of Rs Four lakh. A job would also be given to one of the deceased�s dependants. Expenses for funeral rites would also be paid.
The company representatives said that they would ensure that the family of Suresh Banra gets the insurance amount at the earliest. The officials estimated that the insurance amount accrued would be in the vicinity of Rs Seven-Eight lakh.
