One killed, one injured on mishap along NH-49

Jamshedpur, Dec 12: The accident prone stretch of NH-49 near Baharagora continues to take toll on human life resulting in one death while another is battling for life as a Tata Magic van collided against a truck near Bala and Sons Service Center at around 5 am on Saturday.

According to sources in Baharagora police, the Tata Magic van bearing registration number WB-13-4764 coming from a nursery near West Bengal and carrying flowers for markets in Jamshedpur collided with a truck.  Due to the impact of the collision, the van was badly mangled and one person was killed instantaneously and another was battling for life and undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur after being referred from Baharagora Community Health Center.

A police team led by Baharagora thana OC, Chandrasekhar Kumar reached the spot and with much difficulty managed to take out the body of the deceased and send it for post mortem to Ghatshila divisional hospital. A crane was used to move the mangled remains of the van from the NH-49.

The deceased has been identified as Somnath Manna (24) a resident of Bagnan in West Bengal and the owner of the nursery while the injured Bidyut Mandal (45) also a resident of Bagnan has sustained injury on face and head region.
