Seraikela, Dec 14: A 35-year-old teacher Sonaram Baskey died after being rammed by a car on Hata-Chaibasa Main Road along NH-220 on Monday morning.
According to report, Sonaram Baskey, a resident of Jamshole Tola village under Mosaboni block of East Singhbhum district, was going to school in Manoharpur on his bike (registration number JH-05Z-6630) and near Telai under Rajnagar thana area on the Hata-Chaibasa Road a car (OD-14V-8510) coming from opposite direction (from Chaibasa side) dashed him from front leading to his death at the spot.
The car driver fled from the spot leaving the car at the site of the mishap. The locals called up ambulance and rushed the deceased body to the nearby Rajnagar community health centre where the doctors declared the body as brought dead.
Rajnagar police handed over the body to the relatives after conducting post mortem at the Seraikela Sadar Hospital. A case has been lodged by a cousin brother of the deceased against the car driver for reckless driving leading to the fatal mishap.
Meanwhile, wife of the deceased Manko Baskey who is also teacher in the Upgraded High School at Karaduba in Mosaboni said that her husband was an assistant teacher at Mosaboni and got the posting in 2015 and had taken a house in Manoharpur in West Singhbhum. However, during lockdown he used to travel to school on his own bike. The deceased had come home in Mosaboni on Saturday as Sunday was a holiday and was returning to join school on Monday when the mishap took place.
In yet another mishap, five persons including a child were injured in a head-on collision between two bikes on Kharsawan-Kuchai Road near Kanki culvert in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Monday.
According to report, Raj Boipai (30) and his wife Arti Boipoi (27) were riding on one bike while another bike coming from opposite direction had Roya Munda (30), his wife Savitri Munda (27), son Ganesh Munda (4) and daughter Shreya Munda (9).
In the mishap, Ganesh Munda and Roya Munda have sustained head injuries while Sabitri Munda has injuries on her spine, Raj Boipai and Arti Boipai have sustained a leg fracture. All the injured have been admitted at community health center in Kuchai for treatment from where Ganesh Munda and Raj Boipai were referred to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for better treatment.
