One crore accounts to be opened under Jan Dhan Yojana: CS

Ranchi, Oct. 14: Jharkhand Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma today issued a directive to various state government departments to connect all welfare and development schemes with the Direct Benefit of Transfer (DBT) scheme through Aadhar seeding.

�Aadhar seeding should be done on a war-footing with NSAP (National Social Assistance Program), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY),� said Verma during a review meeting with officials of finance department, MGNREGA and social welfare in the presence of DDCs, ADSS and LDMs of all banks through video conferencing.

Verma said that new accounts of people should be opened to connect the unprivileged class with Jan Dhan Yojana and NPCI mapping should be ensured. All the unmapped accounts should be reviewed and the problems should be sorted out with the help of bank officials.

She said that the difference between seeding and mapping should be sorted out by the government officers. She said that special campaigns should be run in Pakur and Sahibganj and the beneficiaries should be paid through DBT. The Aadhar seeding of 63,94,193 accounts has been done against 83,07,622 accounts opened in the state. Approximately 12 lakh accounts have been opened in the last one month.

Moreover, 30,17,833 Rupay cards have been activated.

During the review, the CS directed that accounts should be opened under NSAP and their seeding should be done fast and that within 10 days all pensioners should be paid through DBT. It was told in the meeting that NPCI mapping of 11,19,730 accounts has been completed and 12,88,340 Aadhaar numbers have been collected. Seeding of 78.18 percentage accounts has been done.

The CS directed that all accounts opening work under MGNREGA should be completed in 10 days. Intense campaign should be run at block level and MGNREGA workers� accounts should be opened. It should be noted that 23,15,767 MGNREGS workers� accounts have been opened against 27,33,082 total active MGNREGA workers.

Expenditure Secretary Satyendra Singh, MGNREGA commissioner Siddharth Tripathi and zonal heads of different banks were also present in the meeting.
