Odissi lights up Teachers’ Day at Brahmanandam Shikshayatan

Jamshedpur, Sep 5: Brahmanandam Shikshayatan celebrated its ninth annual day on the occasion of teacher’s day at Brahmolokdham in Kadma on September 5.

The institute which imparts lessons in Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Vocal Music, Tabla and Fine Arts hosted series of events to mark the day.

The day started with Ganesh Vandana by the students of Brahmanandam Shikshayatan followed by Odissi classical dance presented by Arupa Pandey and troupe from Bhubaneswar. Dancers performed Odissi which made for a memorable day.

Arupa Pandey is a lecturer of Classical dancing at Sri Sri University, Bhubaneswar. Odissi dance performance by the group was heartily enjoyed by the audience.
The students of the institute presented various dance forms on the theme ‘Anand’-Happiness and Joy in various sorts of celebrations.

Guests on the occasion applauded the efforts of the students of Brahmanandam Shikshayatan who put up classical, folk and fusion dance thereby paying tribute to their teachers.
Students in large numbers paid a tribute to their teachers with classical, folk and fusion dance performances, both in solo and group events.

President of the institute, Monu Bhattacharya said, �We have been celebrating Teacher�s Day (5th September) as annual day since 2009 and have felicitated stalwarts in the field of music and dance including the likes of Tiyali Mitter, Rita Mitra, Sonali Chhaterjee, Sandip Bose, Tapas Debnath and several others”.

He further said, “The institute’s main goal has been to impart good cultural education to its students and we will continue with our effort to imbibe the wonderful classical music heritage of India to all our students�.

The cultural event concluded with prize distribution.

Teachers, parents as well as institute’s President Monu Bhattacharya and principal Soma Bhattachrya were present to witness the visual feast.

Brahmanandam Shikshayatan is affiliated to Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad and has been promoting Indian Classical Dance and music since its inception in 2008.
