Baharagora: Hathi Ram Mandal, the 83 year old resident of Pathra Panchayat, has been running from pillar to post to get the benefits of Old Age Pension that has been eluding him for a long time. Promises and assurances have only added to a hole in his bucket of hopes.
Hathi Ram had approached Pathra Panchayat Mukhia Yadu Nath Baskey with his papers but nothing materialized. The octogenarian lamented, �I had approached the Pathra Panchayat Mukhia, Yadu Nath Baskey for help, a Janata Darbar was held wherein I again submitted the relevant papers. The Panchayat representative, Block officials have failed me.�
Hathi Ram Mandal informed that the Block officials had told him that they were not aware of his plight and neither had they seen his application papers. They contended that they were new at the office and instead, they gave him a fresh set of Old Age Pension application forms. They had told this much-harassed man that they would give it a try when the forms were filled up and submitted to the office.
