Jamshedpur: A health awareness camp was organized under ‘Swasth Bharat’ initiative in the villages of Rahargora, Sunderhatu, Gadra, Parsudih and Krishna Nagar on Monday under the aegis of Nuvoco’s Jojobera Cement Plant (JCP).
More than 1000 villagers assembled and received tips on health and fitness during the camp. As many as 17,280 villagers were provided medical services in 288 health clinics through mobile health clinics.
Under health and hygiene awareness campaign, 3000 leaflets were distributed. Similarly, activities for garbage cleaning, village cleaning during monsoon and arrangement of drinking water, maintenance of 18 hand pumps, facility of tanker water were organized, which benefitted over 20,000 people.
Under ‘Surakshit Bharat’ initiative, employees of Nuvoco’s Jojobera Cement Plant donated 350 units of blood to Jamshedpur Blood Bank. During Road Safety Week Nukkad Nataks were organized to raise awareness about traffic rules and HIV/AIDS in which around 150 drivers participated.
Under ‘Sakshar Bharat’ initiative, 115 tribal children were provided free admission in Sunderhatu School with nil fees and uniform, books and study material were also provided. Computer labs were started in four government schools and three schools were provided computer benefitting 4800 students with computer training.
Under ‘Saksham Bharat’, a self-help group with 30 women was trained on nutrition garden, which helped them in growing vegetables and mushroom cultivation. 50 women were given training on sewing and knitting. A total of 17 women were given six month’s beautician course. 10 families of Sunderhatu village were trained on poultry farming and were distributed cocks and hen.
Similarly, under Nuvoco’s ‘Nirmaan Bharat’ initiative, which aims to build a better India, tree plantation in schools was done.
Drive for recycling of industrial waste for protection of environment, construction of toilets, arrangement of street lights and solar lamps in villages, cleaning campaign of Chhath bank at Baridih with proper arrangement of lights were also done. A skill and training centre was also constructed with the objective of providing training and employment to local youth.
With above said efforts, Nuvoco Vistas Corp Limited aims to change the life of people in remote villages. Nuvoco considers this mission its social responsibility and works with dedication to achieve its goal, a company spokesperson said.
