Jamshedpur, Jan 16: A team of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) led by Secretary Nitish Nilesh Sanga visited Deoghar village under MGM police station to spread awareness on the rights and protection of these rights of the Adivasi community as per Legal Services Project 2015. Students of National Law University performed a street play (Nukkad Natak) on the theme of the ill effects of witch hunt.

Nitish Nilesh Sanga elaborating on the subject observed, Witch hunting is a practice that is a bane of society. This practice is more pronounced in Adivasi areas. People with personal interests and land mafias, in a bid to forcefully acquire land or other property, target old women and widows and accuse them of practicing witchcraft and sorcery. These unfortunate women are subjected to the basest form of humiliation, are driven out of their village hearth and home or are killed. Then their properties are taken over by conspirators and perpetrators of the crimes of witch hunting.

The street corner play presented by the students of the National Law University evoked keen response. Among others present on the occasion were advocate Sanjiv Singh, Sunaina Pandey, PLV and others.
