Jamshedpur: Faheem Khan, the notorious gangster of Wasseypur in Dhanbad, who is currently serving life imprisonment in Ghaghidih jail. Due to sudden deterioration in his health, he has been immediately admitted to MGM Hospital.
According to sources in the jail administration, Fahim was taken to the hospital late Thursday night after complaining of chest pain and difficulty in breathing. Doctors have described his condition as critical and he has been kept in the ICU. A team of experts has been deployed to keep an eye on him.
According to sources at MGM Hospital, Faheem Khan was suffering from cardiac problems and high blood pressure. Initial investigations have raised the possibility of blockage in the heart arteries, for which other tests including angiography are being conducted. The jail administration has made tight security arrangements and police force has been deployed around the hospital. This is not the first time that Faheem’s health has deteriorated. Earlier also he was taken to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi for treatment.
According to jail sources, Faheem complained of chest pain at around 11 pm on Thursday night. Jail doctors immediately referred him to MGM Hospital after first aid. He was taken to the hospital under strict supervision for security reasons. The jail superintendent said that no risk was taken considering Faheem’s medical history. Immediate treatment has been started to stabilize his condition, but doctors are considering the next 48 hours to be important.
Faheem Khan, popularly known as the Don of Wasseypur, is a big name in the criminal history of Jharkhand. His story is said to have inspired Anurag Kashyap’s film “Gangs of Wasseypur”, in which he was portrayed as Faizal Khan. Faheem entered the world of crime in the 1980s, when his father Shafi Khan was murdered in Barwada in 1983 and elder brother Shamim Khan was murdered in Dhanbad court premises in 1986. These murders led Faheem on a path of revenge, and he soon became synonymous with crime in Wasseypur.
Even while Faheem is in jail, the police is keeping a close watch on his activities. Dhanbad Police has arrested Faheem from his Wasseypur residence.
The house has been raided several times. In 2020, Bihar criminal Om Prakash alias Guddu had revealed that a conspiracy was hatched to kill Faheem during his court appearance. Despite this, Faheem has managed to maintain his influence in the jail.
