Ranchi, Oct 28: With the notification for the first phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand, the process of filing of nominations on 13 seats has begin, though no news of nomination filing has reached from any of these 13 seats on the first day today.
The chief election officer of the state, Mr. P K Jajoria today said that with the notification for first phase elections on 13 assembly seats, the election process has begun in right earnest. He said that the nominations would be filed till November 5, while scrutiny of nomination papers would be done on November 7.
He said that the nominations could be withdrawn by November 10 and polling in the first phase would take place on November 25.
Polling is slated to take place on 13 Assembly seats including Chatra, Gumla, Bishunpur, Lohardagga, Manika, Latehar, Panki, Daltonganj, Vishrampur, Chhatarpur, Husainabad, Garhwa and Bhawnathpur seats on November 25. The polling would begin at 7 a.m. And would continue till 3 p.m.
In all 57.96 lakh people live in these 13 seats, while the total number of votes is 33.57 lakh, including 17.82 lakh men and 15.74 lakh women.
Six of these seats belong to general category, while four seats Gumla, Bishunpur, Lohardagga and Manika are reserved for STs. These assembly seats will have 3939 polling booths.
