Jamshedpur, Sept 14: As the new Indian Super League (ISL) season approaches, Jamshedpur FC has made significant additions to their squad by securing the services of Nongdamba Naorem Singh and Thongkhosiem Haokip, known as Semboi.
Thongkhosiem Haokip, who primarily plays as a forward, has inked a one-year deal with the club. Haokip arrives at Jamshedpur FC following a successful stint at East Bengal in the ISL, where he was a regular feature in the lineup. The 30-year-old showcased his prowess during recent pre-season friendlies, notably scoring against NorthEast United for the Men of Steel. With 62 appearances in the ISL over multiple seasons, Haokip brings experience to the team, having scored nine goals and provided two assists during his career. He also boasts the Hero ISL trophy from his time with Bengaluru FC and a Hero Super Cup victory with the same team.
In addition to Haokip, the club has secured Nongdamba Singh Naorem on a three-year contract, recognizing his impressive performances in recent seasons. Naorem, a winger, played a pivotal role for India during the FIFA U17 World Cup and has previously been associated with clubs such as Kerala Blasters, Minerva Punjab, Mohun Bagan, and FC Goa. The 23-year-old already has a taste of success, having won the I-League and been part of the Durand Cup-winning squad of Mohun Bagan Super Giant in 2023. His attacking attributes make him a valuable asset to Jamshedpur FC’s future prospects.
Jamshedpur FC Head Coach Scott Cooper expressed his optimism about the new signings. Regarding Nongdamba Singh Naorem, he stated, “Nongdamba comes to us with a lot of talent,” highlighting the player’s speed, strength, skill, and positive attitude. Cooper believes that Naorem has the potential to excel and elevate his game to new heights.
Speaking about Thongkhosiem Haokip, Cooper emphasized Haokip’s strengths as a strong and experienced striker who can contribute significantly to the team. The coach expressed excitement about the prospect of having both Nongdamba and Haokip working together for Jamshedpur FC, bringing their expertise and capabilities to the forefront.
