No relief on restrictions, lockdown to remain effective till May 3 in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, April 19: With no coronavirus positive case being reported in Kolhan division, the area is under green zone so far. The division that comprises East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seriakela Kharsawan districts has not seen any positive case of the deadly virus so far but the administration has no plans to give relief from restrictions .   

According to officials, the district administration is following the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affair (MHA), New Delhi and as per the MHA no additional relief will be given to the residents living in municipal area.  But in the non-municipal area, industrial activity and agricultural activities can be started only after taking approval from the administration.

The officials said that the management of industrial units located in non-municipal areas can start their production, but they will have to take permission from the office of deputy commissioner for that. For the agricultural activity, no permission from anywhere is required.

In accordance to the MHA’s guideline, the lockdown in Jamshedpur which comprised of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, Jugsalai Municipality and Mango Notified Area will remain effective till May 3 like it has been since March 25.

Shedding light on the new directives, superintendent of police (City) Subhash Chandra Jat said that the restriction on movement of private and commercial vehicles, including the two-wheelers will continue in the city till May 3.

“We have been asked to follow the guidelines strictly. Relaxation is being given only on the cases of medical emergency and for those going for buying groceries as well as vegetables, milk etc during a stipulated period.  The administration is not going to give any further relaxation.  Those who will move on the road beyond the cases of medical emergency or purchasing of grocery items or vegetables, they will have to show necessary pass otherwise the commuter will be prosecuted,” Jat

The administration has formed teams at block-level and also in three civic bodies of Jamshedpur, Jugsalai and Mango for house-to-house search within three km radius area for Covid-19 positive cases but every sample tested has turned out to be negative.

� We are keeping an eye on those quarantine and also sending teams for identifying  fresh suspected cases. There are several persons who have returned from abroad and have been quarantined. We want them to follow guidelines,� said another official.

 The medical team is also distributing pamphlets on the measures to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They are being informed about quarantine measures for those showing symptoms such as cold, cough and fever.
