Jamshedpur: Members of Basti Vikas Samiti, Golmuri, unit, launched a ‘no plastic’ campaign in the various localities of Golmuri on Thursday and created public awareness on the hazards of using plastic.
Leading the campaign, the Golmuri unit president NK Ojha said the main purpose behind launching the campaign is to inform people about the serious health hazards posed by plastic bags and other materials made of plastic.
“There are still many people who are not aware of the health hazards of plastic, hence we started our campaign,” said Ojha.
The outfit president Khemlal Choudhary said an intensive and continuous campaign was needed to ensure the exit of plastic from daily human life.
Hundreds of volunteers visited Garabasa, Mathura Bagan, Bajrangnagar and Saraswati Nagar with placards bearing anti-plastic messages.
The volunteers included Kameshwar Singh, Jitendra Sahu, Darshan Singh, Jairam Das Mahapatra, Shiv Kumar Singh, Parvati Devi, Vimla Devi, Jamuna Devi, Rajkishore Sharma and Sarabjeet Kaur.
