NGT guidelines compliance: Zero tolerance policy against violation
Jamshedpur, Oct 26: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri held a review meeting to address and ensure compliance with National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines in infrastructure construction.
The meeting on Thursday, attended by key officials from various departments, emphasized strict adherence to NGT rules and zero tolerance for deviations from approved maps.
Bhajantri unequivocally stated that infrastructure should not be constructed in the eco-sensitive zone of Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary area and along the banks of Swarnarekha River, in direct violation of NGT guidelines.
The district administration, under the leadership of DC, declared a zero-tolerance policy against negligent officers who overlook NGT regulations. Strict action will be taken against any officer found in violation.
A committee, comprising officials from relevant departments, will be formed to investigate any illegal construction in the Dalma Sanctuary area and encroachment along the Swarnarekha River. The committee will assess the ground reality, document violations, and submit a comprehensive report.
Stressing the importance of collaboration, the DC urged all departments to work collectively to ensure compliance with NGT orders. Any collusion between individuals involved in illegal construction and government officials will be met with severe consequences.
The meeting also addressed construction deviations from approved maps within municipal bodies. Bhajantri reviewed ongoing actions taken against such deviations and directed an immediate halt to constructions deviating from approved plans.
Municipal officials received clear instructions to ensure organized urban development, adherence to pollution control board standards in construction, and the legality of all construction projects according to established rules.
The DC underscored the need for the strict on-ground implementation of orders to safeguard the ecological integrity of the region.
Divisional Forest Officer (Jamshedpur), Mamta Priyadarshi, Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, Sub-Divisional Officer (Dhalbhum) Piyush Sinha, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jaideep Tigga, Executive Officer of Mango Municipal Corporation Suresh Yadav, District Public Relations Officer Rohit Kumar, and representatives from the Dalma Gaj Project, Pollution Board, and Water Resources Department were among those present at the meeting.
All municipal officials received directives to ensure organized city planning, adherence to pollution control board standards, and environmentally- friendly construction practices. Strict implementation of NGT orders on the ground was strongly emphasized.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to uphold environmental norms and ensure that the region’s development aligns with sustainable and legal practices. The district administration’s commitment to environmental conservation and legal construction practices was underscored during this pivotal meeting, setting the tone for stringent enforcement of NGT guidelines in the region.
