NML Kerala Public School observes Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day with special assembly

Jamshedpur: NML Kerala Public School marked Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day with a vibrant morning assembly on Monday, highlighting the Guru’s unparalleled sacrifice and timeless teachings. The programme opened with a solemn role-play presented by students, portraying the events leading to Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom. This was followed by soulful poetry recitations and kirtans by students and teachers, creating a devotional atmosphere in the school premises.

Sikh preacher Harvinder Singh Jamshedpuri delivered an insightful lecture on the life and philosophy of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He spoke extensively about the contributions of all ten Sikh Gurus and urged students to draw inspiration from such great personalities and imbibe their values in daily life.

Principal Gurmeet Kaur expressed her gratitude to the participants, staff, and students for their enthusiastic involvement and praised the collective effort that made the event a meaningful tribute. The initiative for organising the programme was taken by the school’s President, Shrikant Nair, with the objective of keeping students connected to their history, heritage, and cultural roots.

The event concluded with an engaging group discussion on the values of courage, tolerance, and selfless service embodied by Guru Tegh Bahadur. The assembly also reflected upon the Guru’s inspiring message: “Give up your head, but do not abandon those you have sworn to protect. Give up your life, but do not abandon your faith.”
