NIT Jamshedpur Workshop Focuses on Rural Prosperity & Tourism

Jamshedpur: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur concluded a two-day orientation programme-cum-workshop titled “Village Prosperity and Rural Tourism Development.” Organized under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), the event focused on bridging the gap between higher education and rural sustainability.

Empowering Villages through Technology

The workshop opened with a welcome address by Dr. Shakti Prasad, Head of the Regional Coordinating Institute (RCI). He highlighted the UBA’s core mission: leveraging academic expertise to transform rural landscapes through community-based growth.

Key Speaker Insights:

  • Dr. Vikrant Tiwari (Chief Guest, Day 1): Introduced the “Mud and Meadows” initiative, emphasizing harmony between nature and modern society.
  • Prof. P. K. Singh & Varun Vidyarthi: Called for institutional collaboration and urged students to solve grassroots problems.
  • Dr. Pushpendra Yadav: Focused on the necessity of linking technological innovation with environmental conservation.

Focus on Social Entrepreneurship

On the second day, Dr. Manisha Oraon, CEO of The Open Field, shared her expertise on social entrepreneurship. She discussed how community-based production systems can strengthen rural livelihoods and create sustainable economic models for indigenous farmers.
