Jamshedpur, April 17: NIT Jamshedpur is set to launch part-time engineering courses at the M.Tech level, marking a significant expansion of educational offerings. The institute plans to initiate five new courses across different departments, following approval from the Senate of NIT.
These part-time courses, awaiting final consent from the Board of Governors, represent a pioneering initiative for NIT Jamshedpur. During the Senate meeting, department-wise details regarding the new courses were outlined.
The Civil Engineering branch will introduce a three-year part-time course in Structural Engineering, with an initial enrollment of 20 students. Additionally, the Computer Science and Engineering branch will offer two part-time courses: Computer Science and Engineering, and Information Science and Security Engineering, each enrolling 20 students in the first batch.
Furthermore, the Electronics and Communication Engineering branch will commence a course in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems, while the Metallurgical and Material Engineering branch will introduce a course in Iron and Steel Technology. Additionally, a Production Management course will be offered in the Production and Industrial Engineering branch, also enrolling 20 students in the inaugural batch.
These part-time courses are slated to span three years, with a deadline of 2025 set by the Senate for their commencement.
