NIT Jamshedpur: EPREC-2024 highlights importance of renewable energy and Microgrids

Jamshedpur, May 26: The 5th Electric Power and Renewable Energy Conference (EPREC-2024) concluded with a valedictory ceremony where Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director of NIT Warangal, emphasized the critical need for renewable energy and Microgrids in today’s evolving load conditions. As the chief guest, Prof. Subudhi praised EPREC for consistently showcasing advancements in Control Systems, Power Electronics, and Soft Computing Applications in Power Systems. He suggested rotating the conference among other reputed institutes like IITs and NITs to expand its global reach.

Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, acknowledged stakeholder feedback to enhance the conference’s societal impact. Guests of honor, Prof. P. K. Sadhu from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and Prof. Debasish Chaterjee from Jadavpur University, lauded NIT Jamshedpur’s research and innovation efforts. Prof. U. K. Sinha, the general chair of EPREC, extended a vote of thanks, highlighting the contributions of the organizing committee members, including Dr. Omhari Gupta, Dr. Arvind Kumar Prajapati, Dr. Ravi Bhushan, Dr. Simanta Kumar Samal, Dr. M.K. Sarkar, Dr. Supriyo Das, and Dr. Jitendra Kumar.

Special mentions included Dr. Shailendra Kumar from IIT Bhilai and Dr. Krishna Murari from the University of Toledo, USA. The event saw participation from esteemed faculty, students, and external delegates. Best paper awards were given to Subhabrata Pal (IIT Roorkee), Dr. Somesh Chaterjee (Nirma University, Ahmedabad), Rishi Raj Ranjan (NIT Jamshedpur), and Prof. Pratul Arvind (ADGIPS, New Delhi). EPREC-2024 featured 101 research papers presented by global authors, reinforcing its status as a premier platform for energy research discussions.
