NIT Jamshedpur Director felicitated by Institute of Indian Foundrymen

Jamshedpur, Aug 19: Dr Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, was recognised for his contributions by The Institute of Indian Foundrymen
On the occasion of the “74th National Foundry Day” held in Kolkata, The Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF) honored Dr. Goutam Sutradhar, Director of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur, for his extensive contributions to IIF and the Foundry industry in the East Zone. Dr. Sutradhar was presented with the award in recognition of his remarkable work in foundry technology.
Dr. Sutradhar, a distinguished expert in foundry technology, is renowned for his expertise and scholarly contributions. He has authored influential books like “Design and Manufacturing and Integrated Approach” and “Foundry Process Design,” which have become standard references in the field. His legacy extends beyond his publications, with over 125 technical papers published in esteemed national and international journals and more than 50 technical papers presented at conferences worldwide.
Having supervised numerous research projects sponsored by prestigious institutions, including AICT New Delhi, CSIR New Delhi, UGC New Delhi, and GST New Delhi, Dr. Sutradhar has made a significant impact on the field. He is an active member of various professional bodies and previously served as the President of the Eastern Region of the Indian Institute of Foundrymen.
With a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Foundry Technology from IIT Kharagpur and a PhD in Engineering from BIT Mesra, Ranchi, Dr. Sutradhar boasts a diverse background. He has shared his knowledge as a faculty member at various educational institutions and was appointed as the Director of NIT Manipur before taking on his current role at NIT Jamshedpur.
Beyond his academic and research achievements, Dr. Sutradhar has contributed to the practical implementation of foundry technology by developing components for industries such as Indian Railways and Automotive Components. He has also supported budding entrepreneurs interested in venturing into the foundry and allied sectors.
The felicitation ceremony, which took place in Kolkata, celebrated Dr. Goutam Sutradhar’s accomplishments. The event was attended by distinguished individuals, including Col. (Dr.) Nishith Kumar Rai, Registrar of NIT Jamshedpur, Deans, senior faculty, office bearers, and students of the institute. Dr. Sutradhar’s exceptional journey and contributions were acknowledged, bringing pride to the entire institution.
These notable achievements were shared by the institute’s Public Relations Officer and Media In-Charge, Sunil Kumar Bhagat. Dr. Sutradhar’s recognition highlights his substantial impact on foundry technology and his commitment to furthering the field’s progress.
