Jamshedpur: Director of NIT Jamshedpur, Professor (Dr.) Goutam Sutradhar inaugurated a state-of-the-art 5G Use Case Lab at the Department of Telecommunication Engineering, NIT Jamshedpur, on Thursday. The laboratory has been established with financial support of ₹5 crore from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India.
NIT Jamshedpur is among the 100 higher educational institutions across the country selected for this prestigious funding initiative. The lab aims to build competencies and foster engagement in 5G technologies among students and startup communities, while also preparing the ecosystem for the emerging 6G era.
Addressing the gathering, the Director highlighted that the facility would not only benefit NIT Jamshedpur but would also be accessible to other engineering institutes across Jharkhand, promoting collaborative research, innovation, and skill development in advanced telecom technologies.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Director Prof. R. V. Sharma, Dean (Research & Consultancy) Prof. Satish Kumar, Registrar Prof. Saroj Kumar Sarangi, HOD (ECE) Dr. Dilip Kumar, Dr. Swagatadeb Sahoo, Coordinator, 5G Use Case Lab, along with faculty members and students of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
