Jamshedpur, Jan 24: A nine-day Netaji Subhas Mela was inaugurated by parliamentarian Bidyut Baran Mahto at the Kali Sangh Maidan. Incidentally, this is the ninth year of this fair.
In his inaugural address, Bidyut Mahto stated, �The soil of Baharagora is blessed because Netaji had visited this place during his last public meeting before being put under house arrest. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had led labour movements in Jamshedpur. The new generation should read and take inspiration from the life, philosophy and work of the immortal freedom fighter.�
A bonanza of cultural events and an exhibition will mark this nine-day Netaji Subhas Fair. This fair dedicated to Netaji is the biggest of its kind in Jharkhand. People in large numbers from the bordering states of Bengal and Odisha visit and participate in this Mela.
Members of various organizations garlanded the statue of Netaji at Subhas Sishu Uddyan while at TPS DAV High School in Baharagora students and teachers observed the 123rd birth anniversary of the patriot.
