BJP Slams Jharkhand’s 2026-27 Budget

Jamshedpur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jamshedpur Mahanagar has labelled the Jharkhand state budget for the financial year 2026-27 as “directionless and disappointing.” Following the presentation by Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, BJP leaders claimed the budget ignores the needs of youth, farmers, women, and labourers.

A “Visionless” Financial Roadmap

BJP Jamshedpur Mahanagar President Sanjeev Sinha reacted sharply to the budget on Tuesday. He stated that the fiscal plan offers nothing to welcome in the interest of the general public. Furthermore, he criticized the Hemant Soren-led government for increasing the budget size without providing a transparent account of previous expenditures.

“The government has increased the budget amount, but it has not disclosed how much of the previous budget was actually spent,” Sinha remarked. He argued that the government has historically failed to utilize proposed funds effectively. Consequently, the lack of transparency regarding past spending makes the new budget increases look questionable.

Challenges in Implementation

Sanjeev Sinha also highlighted that the promises made to women, farmers, and youth seem to lack a concrete implementation plan. He noted that due to “weak leadership,” these announcements are unlikely to be realized on the ground. According to Sinha, the budget is a reflection of a government that lacks direction.

No Provision for Employment or Vacant Posts

Adding to the criticism, BJP District Media In-charge Prem Jha addressed the education and employment sectors. He pointed out that the Jharkhand government has failed to fulfill many promises from previous years.

“There is absolutely no provision in this budget for new employment or for filling thousands of vacant government posts,” Jha stated. He expressed disappointment over the lack of investment in basic infrastructure. Despite the larger budget size, Jha believes that all sections of society have been left empty-handed.

Ultimately, the BJP Jamshedpur leadership maintains that this budget fails to strengthen the state’s foundation and serves only as a document of unfulfilled promises.
