Jamshedpur, July 4: Tata Steel UISL will soon take charge of cleaning responsibilities across all areas under the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), initiating night sweeping in the city’s markets and public places. A meeting chaired by JNAC Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar was held on Wednesday with Tata Steel UISL officials to discuss key aspects of solid waste management, the Swachh Survey 2024, and city cleanliness.

During the meeting, current cleaning systems were reviewed, and detailed discussions took place regarding resources, personnel, and cleaning plans. Tata Steel UISL’s GM O&M Ravindra Kumar Singh expressed readiness to streamline the cleaning system, emphasizing door-to-door service connectivity for all households. Plans are underway to implement self-operated biogas systems in large institutions like hotels and restaurants, promote the Triple R theme (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), connect flat complexes lacking door-to-door service, issue notices to non-compliant entities, curb single-use plastic usage with viable alternatives, and enforce penalties under the Jharkhand Municipality Act 2011 for cleanliness violations.

The Deputy Municipal Commissioner stressed the importance of phased implementation to ensure effective cleaning operations promptly. Collaborative efforts with stakeholders are set to begin public health initiatives through Tata Steel UISL as per JITC notifications, aiming to reduce urban garbage points, introduce night sweeping in all markets and public places, and phase out large dustbins from the cityscape.

Attendees included Tata Steel UISL Deputy General Manager Colonel Paul Ernest, Chief Divisional Manager Manoj Singh Shekhawat, Jamshedpur NAC Assistant Engineer Sanjay Singh, Junior Engineer MK Pradhan, and City Manager Christina Kachhap, among others.
