NHES inspires eco-awareness through ‘Space Talk’ with Axiom Space

Jamshedpur, July 28: In a unique blend of science and sustainability, Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) celebrated World Conservation Day with an engaging ‘Space Talk’ in association with Axiom Space. The event, held on Monday, aimed to inspire students to understand the vital link between space exploration and environmental conservation.

The highlight of the session was a keynote address by Tejpal Bhatia, CEO of Axiom Space, Houston. He interacted with students, answering questions on space sustainability and discussing how astronauts aboard missions like those conducted by Axiom learn to value Earth’s fragile ecosystem from orbit. “Every drop of water and every breath of air becomes precious in space—this perspective is essential for conservation on Earth,” he emphasized.

The event also revisited NHES’s ‘Watch Party’ organized on June 25, 2025, to witness the launch of the Axiom-4 spaceflight from the Kennedy Space Center. The mission’s pilot, Shubhanshu Shukla, became the second Indian to travel to space and the first to reach the International Space Station.

Students were introduced to sustainable practices used in space—such as water recycling, waste reduction, and innovative resource management—and how these models can be applied to protect our planet. Principal Paramita Roy Choudhury noted, “Space teaches us that Earth’s resources are finite. This initiative aimed to instill global responsibility among our students.”

As part of the celebration, students participated in a plantation drive within the school campus and at the NHES roundabout near Adityapur Bridge. A variety of saplings were planted to reinforce their commitment to a greener future.

Students also showcased PowerPoint presentations on nature conservation, further deepening their understanding of sustainable living.

School President Nakul Kamani, who played a pivotal role in initiating the collaboration with Axiom, expressed delight at the meaningful interaction. “It was truly enriching for our students,” he said.
