Seraikela: In a major operation ahead of the Holi festivities, the district Excise Department launched a targeted inspection drive along National Highway-33 (NH-33). Under the direct leadership of Excise Superintendent Kshitij Vijay Minj, teams scrutinized several prominent “line hotels” within the Chandil police station limits.
High-Profile Inspections
Acting on directives from the Deputy Commissioner, the task force inspected several popular stopovers along the highway to check for the illegal storage and serving of alcohol. The establishments inspected included:
- Mahesh Hotel
- Ananya Hotel
- Triveni Hotel
- Shatrughan Hotel
- Golden Leaf Hotel
Violations and Arrests
While some establishments were found to be compliant, two hotels were caught violating the Jharkhand Excise Act:
- Mahesh Hotel: Found illegally serving liquor to customers.
- Ananya Hotel: Caught in the act of unauthorized liquor service.
The operators of both hotels were arrested on the spot. Official cases have been registered, and the seized materials are being processed as evidence.
Warning to Highway Establishments
Superintendent Kshitij Vijay Minj issued a stern warning to all hotel and eatery owners along the NH-33 corridor. He emphasized that surveillance will remain high throughout the Holi 2026 festive period.
Establishments involved in the illegal manufacturing, unauthorized storage, or serving of liquor will face immediate closure, arrests, and strict legal prosecution to ensure public safety and road security during the holidays.
