Jamshedpur, September 30: The body of newly married Sonam Parveen was found hanging at her in-laws’ house in Tuiladungri under Golmuri police station area of East Singhbhum district.
She was married to Safdar Khan in March 2020. Nurul Haque, a resident of Kapali and father of the deceased reaching Golmuri on the news of the daughter’s death has accused the in-laws of murdering his daughter for dowry and hide evidence of murder, an attempt was made to make the body look like a suicide by hanging.
On the complaint of the father, an FIR has been registered against Sonam’s husband Safdar Khan, father-in-law Anwar Khan, mother-in-law Rehmat Khatoon, brother-in-law Azhar Khan, sister-in-law Farida Khatoon and maternal grandmother-in-law at Golmuri police station.
The complainant father has told the police that after marriage, Sonam gave birth to a son, who is now eight months old. Safdar went to Saudi Arabia for job three months ago. Sonam was harassed by her husband Safdar Khan, father-in-law Anwar Khan, mother-in-law Rehmat Khatoon, brother-in-law Azhar Khan, sister-in-law Farida Khatoon and maternal grandmother-in-law for dowry and was also beaten up.
The daughter often used to complain of harassment and assault on the phone. On Wednesday night, the in-laws called up the father and told that Sonam had hanged herself. When they reached Sonam’s in-laws’ house, they found Sonam hanging and there was injury mark on the neck. His hand had turned blue. Inspector Arvind Kumar of Golmuri police station said that the matter is being investigated. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
