Jamshedpur: Criminals open fire on trailer, cleaner dies, driver injured

Jamshedpur, Sep 30: In a major firing incident on Jagannathpur-Noamundi main road of West Singhbhum district late last night, masked criminals robbed an iron-laden trailer trailer by shooting its driver and cleaner. The incident took place near Jetaya turn on Jagannathpur Noamundi main road.

After executing the incident, the criminals fled with the trailer. According to information, the cleaner died on the spot due to bullet injuries while the driver was seriously injured. The driver suffered a bullet injury in the shoulder while cleaner was shot in the cheek by the criminals.

The driver Guddu Kumar, resident of Nawada district of Bihar and Rahul Kumar of cleaner Nawada district were going to Barhi Hazaribagh on Wednesday night after loading iron on a trailer from Barbil in Odisha. Suddenly, an unnumbered Alto car was already parked in front of his trailer.

The people aboard stopped the trailer. Suddenly, three masked criminals came out of the car and pointed a gun directly at the driver’s forehead. After a scuffle, the criminals shot the driver in the shoulder. The cleaner  was shot under the forehead near the cheek.

Due to heavy rains, the villagers and passers-by came to know about the incident on the morning of Thursday. Police station in-charge Yash Raj Singh, assistant sub-inspector Ravi Shankar Tiwari reached the spot along with the team. The injured driver was rushed to the Community Health Center in his vehicle for treatment.

 The body of the cleaner  was confiscated by the police and brought to the police station. The family members of both have been informed about the incident. DSP Ikud Dungdung and Police Inspector reached Noamundi Community Health Center and the site of the incident. The police have started an investigation to get to the bottom of the incident.

The driver has been referred to Sadar Hospital Chaibasa for better treatment. The police have started preparing for the post-mortem of the cleaner ‘s body. Jagannathpur police station in-charge Yashraj Singh said that the vehicle laden with iron ore is missing from the spot. Efforts are being made to identify the criminals involved in the incident and arrest them.
