Jamshedpur, Sept 4: A baby girl born to a young woman, Pangela Purty, a native of Chaibasa (in West Singhbhum) was reportedly stolen by a middle-aged woman, just an hour after her birth through caesarean section on Wednesday afternoon.

City police have launched a manhunt to nab the
culprits and trace the new-born safely.
Based on the complaint of the parents and family police scanned the CCTVs in
the area and found that a woman in blue sari was moving out with a
new-born. Based on the CCTV footage police are trying to nab the woman.

Hospital sources said Pangela Purty was taken to the labour room this morning where she delivered her daughter around 12.20 pm. As the newborn was healthy, the nurses handed her over to her grandmother, who accompanied Purty.

According to police, the grandmother stepped down the stairs and came near the registration counter carrying the newborn with Pangela Purty still in labour room. A middle-aged woman came to her and sat beside her. She somehow managed to convince the old woman to hand over the child and go to another room to get some important documents. When the grandmother returned she found that the woman and the newborn were nowhere to be seen. When she raised an alarm, people rushed to her help. The family rushed to the local police outpost to seek assistance, police said.
