New twist in Tata Workers Union elections: Abhay Kr Mandal to run for Returning Officer against Team Tunnu

Jamshedpur, Jan 17: Following the notification for the Tata Workers Union elections, a new twist has emerged as Abhay Kumar Mandal, an employee of CRM Electrical Maintenance Department, has declared his candidacy for the position of Returning Officer, challenging Team Tunnu. The voter list for the election of the Returning Officer and all members of the Election Committee was released on Wednesday, comprising a total of 193 committee members who are eligible to vote.

Team Tunnu, the existing leadership, now faces a fresh challenge as Abhay Kumar Mandal, a JE 2 (Junior Engineer 2) at CRM Electrical Maintenance, has stepped forward as a candidate for the election of Returning Officer. Mandal expressed his determination to nominate himself in the upcoming elections scheduled for Thursday. It is noteworthy that if a non-committee member contests, they must secure support from ten committee members as proposers and ten as seconders, totaling 20 committee members in support.

Abhay Kumar Mandal is confident of obtaining the required support and believes in the fairness of the election process. His unexpected candidacy has stirred excitement, and some previously subdued opposition leaders are reportedly considering joining forces and providing support. The situation is evolving, and preparations are underway for a potentially competitive election.
