Jamshedpur : The edges of the new Kharkai bridge will be opened for public from the morning of October 9 in view of the Durga Puja. The old bridge will also be made operational simultaneously to ensure hassle free movement
Administration of Seraikela-Kharsawan and East Singhbhum took a decision in this regard during a meeting at Vikas Bhavan in Adityapur.
The Seraikela-Kharsawan superintendent of police, Indrajit Mahtha said that the approach road was expected to be completed by October 10, but due to the persistent inclement weather condition, the agency could not complete the work within the said time.
“In view of puja rush from Jamshedpur, we have decided to open all the three flanks of the bridge during the Puja,” said the superintendent of police. He informed that after the Puja is over the left side flank of the new bridge will be closed again to ensure completion of the work.
Deputy superintendent of police (traffic), Jamshedpur, Rakesh Mohan Sinha, who attended the meeting from the East Singhbhum district administration said that adequate police arrangement will be made to ensure that the commuters, especially those riding a vehicle follow the administration’s line for communicating between Adityapur and Jamshedpur.
Once the Puja is over we will resume the construction work so that the approach road may finally be completed shortly,” said a senior official of the private construction firm.
