Jamshedpur, Feb 28: A 2015 batch IAS officer Jadhav Vijaya Narayan Rao, who took over as the new deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum has listed her priorities with focus on proper implementation of welfare schemes in rural areas and coordination between private and local urban bodies for ensuring cleanliness and hygiene are in place in urban areas.
Outgoing Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar handed over the charge to her. Referring to the responsibilities of the post, she said that taking the schemes of the government to the people would be her first priority. It has to be ensured that the person standing in the last row gets their due. The schemes have to be implemented shoulder to shoulder with the district officials.
Rao is the third woman deputy commissioner of the district. Earlier on 14 November 1999, the first woman DC Nidhi Khare was deputed. During her second term she was posted from 15 January 2002 to 7 December 2003. Later on Himani Pandey became the second woman deputy commissioner. She remained in the DC till June 2, 2013. Now the third woman deputy commissioner Jadhav Vijaya Narayan Rao has taken over.
Rao’s father passed away a fortnight ago and on the day of Shraddha Karma, the government announced to make her the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum. This is her first posting as the deputy commissioner. Prior to this she was the SDO of Giridih, DDC of Hazaribagh and Director, Urban Administration in the Department of Urban Development and Housing.
As SDO in Giridih, her image had become that of Lady Singham. During that time she campaigned vigorously against illegal mining traders and slaughterhouses. On the question of maintaining the above image in Jamshedpur, Jadhav Vijaya Narayan Rao said that the post of SDO was full of enthusiasm along with responsibilities. Maturity comes with posting in different posts.
