Jamshedpur, May 20: In a significant breakthrough, the police have apprehended Sanika Kumhar alias Dukhu, the prime suspect in the murder of 23-year-old Mangra Kumhar, which took place on May 11 in Konseya village under the jurisdiction of Bandgaon police station in West Singhbhum district. After nine days of relentless investigation, the authorities successfully arrested Sanika on Saturday. Additionally, the clothing worn by Sanika during the crime has also been retrieved as evidence.
Bandgaon police station in-charge Manoj Kumar provided details about the incident, stating that Mangra Kumhar was sleeping near his residence when he was brutally attacked with a sharp weapon, leading to his untimely demise. The lifeless body of Mangra was discovered on May 11, prompting the registration of a murder case against an unidentified assailant. The police swiftly launched an investigation into the matter ultimately leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of Sanika Kumhar as the prime suspect. Further investigations revealed that the murder was a result of an ongoing family dispute between Mangra’s family and Sanika’s family. The accused, Sanika, happened to be a neighbor of Mangra Kumhar. Taking advantage of the prevailing dispute, Sanika targeted Mangra, who was sleeping outside his residence during a wedding ceremony in the village.
